Custom Technology - The art of the custom insole

Custom technology allows the insole to be 100% customised to the unique shape of the foot. It's the solution for anyone looking for the ultimate in sports comfort.

Why choose Custom Technology?

The insole incorporated into the shoe, known as the insole, has no biomechanical properties. Without a suitable insole, the foot, when it tires, will tend to sink inwards and if there is nothing to support it, the foot will become unstable, uncomfortable and even painful. Thanks to its rigidity, a customised sole will optimise the transmission of pressure and allow the skier to manage the transition from edge to edge efficiently.

By moulding perfectly to the shape of the foot, the Custom sole offers several advantages:

  • It optimises the boot's properties
  • It stabilises the foot over a long period of time.
  • It limits foot movement in the shoe.
  • It ensures correct body alignment.
  • It provides comfort.
  • It distributes foot pressure effectively

How is a Custom Insole constructed?

Soles with Custom technology are made from the highest-performance materials, most often used by foot care professionals for their stability, control and comfort properties.
It consists of several layers materials bonded together a resin specific reinforcements for targeted areas and covering.

How do I choose my Custom insole?

When you visit a store specialising in bootfitting, the boot fitter will guide you towards the model of Custom insole best suited to your sport, your needs and your quest for comfort and performance.
To date, the Custom range developed for winter sports includes around ten different models:

  • The Winter models meet the vast majority of the needs of skiers looking for stability, comfort and precision. By using different materials for the cover, some models offer maximum insulation, and can even incorporate a heating system for the coldest skiers.
  • Specific models for Nordic skiing (classic and skating) and Touring skiing.
  • Models dedicated to racing and competition thanks to the use of the highest-performance materials in terms of stability, rigidity and energy transfer, such as carbon. These models are moulded to the feet of the world's greatest racing skiers.

What are the stages involved in moulding a Custom insole?

From a ‘flat’ Custom insole, the boot fitter (a person trained and expert in the practice of bootfitting) heats the insole in suitable equipment and will mould it to the footprint to perfectly match its shape. For a better finish, the insole is then sanded and cut for optimum comfort and insertion into the boot.
